The great news
So, is there no way out? Do you know what God did for you, so you would not have to go to Hell?
A civil analogy
Here's a story to illustrate how: Imagine that you have been convicted of a very serious crime. You are standing, a convicted criminal, before the judge at your sentencing hearing. The judge informs you that your crime carries with it a penalty of; either life in prison without possibility of parole, or a monetary fine of $1,000,000. The gavel falls, sealing his judgement.
Panic stricken, you realize neither you, nor your family, have any hope of raising such a large sum of money to pay your fine. Fear grips your heart as you see hope fading; you see that you will be behind bars for the rest of your natural life. The officers of the court approach, ready to take you into custody, but at that moment the judge, who has no personal connection with you, steps down from behind his bench. He informs the officers that he has sold his home, his stock holdings and all his worldly possessions. He has raised $1,000,000 in cash and is going to pay your fine. You have done nothing to deserve this. In fact, you are guilty of a terrible crime and he is, for all intents, a stranger to you. The judge pays your fine and you are unshackled from your chains; you walk out of the courtroom free. Wow! Are you appreciative of this man's sacrifice?
God then darkened the sun for three hours and poured out on Jesus Christ, the punishment of the wrath of an angry God, the punishment of Hell.
This is what God has done for you!
What an amazing God, your creator! God gave man His Law, knowing we would break it and be deserving of punishment. But, "... God so loved the world, that he gave his only Son, that whoever believes in him should not perish but have eternal life." (John 3:16 ESV).
Out of his loving kindness, God sent His only Son, to take on a body, be born here on earth as a man; Jesus Christ. Jesus lived a perfect life, perfectly keeping the commandments. He allowed men to nail His body to a cross of wood, lifting Him up in crucifixion. They pierced His side with a spear; he bled and died. God then darkened the sun for three hours and poured out on Jesus Christ, the punishment of the wrath of an angry God, the punishment of Hell. The punishment you and I deserved. Jesus then rose from the dead, defeating death. He appeared to many then ascended into Heaven.
